Skål International World Congress 2024 to be hosted in Izmir, Türkiye

16 October 2023

Skål International is delighted to announce that its highly anticipated 83rd World Congress will be held in the vibrant city of Izmir, Türkiye, from October 16th to 21st, 2024.

This annual event, which gathers travel and tourism professionals from almost 40 countries this year, provides a global platform for members to connect, exchange knowledge, and work together toward fostering sustainable tourism.

Izmir, a city steeped in history and situated along the stunning Aegean coast, offers an exceptional backdrop for this year’s congress, which carries our two main topics this year: #BuildingBridges and #EmpoweringDiversity. As one of Türkiye's most culturally diverse and economically significant cities, Izmir is a fitting location to highlight the intersection of tradition and innovation in the global tourism industry.

The congress will feature a varied agenda, including the Annual General Assembly, B2B Sessions, keynote speeches from industry leaders, panel discussions and networking sessions. These activities will focus on pressing topics such as the future of sustainable tourism, innovative digital strategies such as AI and the importance of collaborative approaches to global tourism challenges. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore Izmir’s rich history, from ancient ruins to modern architectural marvels.

Skål International President, Annette Cardenas emphasized the significance of the congress, stating: "Our annual World Congress is a vital gathering for tourism professionals worldwide. It not only allows us to build bridges/connections but also inspires new initiatives and partnerships that will help drive tourism growth responsibly and sustainably".

One of the congress highlights will be the B2B networking opportunities, offering members the chance to forge new business relationships and enhance existing ones in an environment conducive to collaboration. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in guided tours of Izmir, offering a glimpse into the region’s unique culture, cuisine, and history.

The event will also include the traditional Skål International President Gala Dinner, an evening dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of the year. Furthermore, the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of Skål International will convene during the congress, where the future strategic direction of the organization will be discussed.
