Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards winners announced at its 83rd World Congress in Izmir, Türkiye

Skål International World Congress 2024 Inaugural Ceremony brought together approximately 300 travel executives from around 40 countries.

Alongside key figures from Skål International, the event has been attended by representatives of local and regional governments, and tourism industry leaders, including Seyhan Müşerref Kulalı, Head of Tourism Commission of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Hasan Eker, Vice President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies or Jaime Mayaki, UN Tourism Director for Technical Cooperation and Annette Cardenas, Skål International President.


The Sustainable Tourism Awards ceremony was presented by Skål International Director of Sustainable Tourism, José Luis Quintero. The 2024 edition was a resounding success with 56 entries from 20 countries worldwide, competing in eight newly revamped categories. 

As a global Travel and Tourism organisation, Skål International continues to champion environmental conservation and positive change in the industry.  It is also an honour, as an Affiliate Member of UN Tourism since 1984, to have their support, especially in relation to the Sustainable Tourism Awards.

Since 2018, the Responsible Tourism Institute and Biosphere Tourism have supported the awards by granting each winner the  the 'Skål International Biosphere Sustainable Special Award' which includes a complimentary one-year subscription to the Biosphere Sustainable Platform.
